Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 21, 2026 · How Piruse handles information on your device

1. Overview

Piruse (“we,” “our,” or “the App”) is a Europe volcanic and mountain travel guide. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App stores and how it is used. Piruse is designed to work primarily with on-device data. We do not operate a user-content cloud for saved spots, field memos, photos, voice notes, checklists, quiz stats, or coin balances.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

Depending on how you use Piruse, the App may store locally (for example in app preferences or the App’s documents folder):

Login / session markers, onboarding completion, and optional agreement acknowledgements
Saved (bookmarked) place identifiers and trip status (such as Planning or Visited)
Private field memos you write for a place
Optional field photos (camera or photo library) and short voice memos you attach to a place
Prep checklist progress and volcano quiz best score / run counts
Coin balance from optional in-app purchases, and your preference for Personalized Trail Tips

This information stays on your device unless you share it yourself (for example via the system share sheet) or clear it by deleting account data / uninstalling the App.

3. Permissions You May Grant

Core catalog browsing (Places, Map markers, Notes, Tips) does not require special permissions. Optional features may ask for:

Camera — to take a travel photo for a place’s field memo
Photo Library — to attach an existing photo to a field memo
Microphone — to record a short voice memo for a place
App Tracking Transparency — only if you turn on Personalized Trail Tips in Account, so the App can request permission to tailor discovery tips

You can deny any permission; the related optional feature will simply be unavailable. The Map tab shows curated destination markers and does not require your live GPS location.

4. Purchases

Optional coin packs are sold as consumable in-app purchases through Apple’s StoreKit / App Store. Payment processing is handled by Apple. Purchase receipts and payment method details are governed by Apple’s privacy practices. Piruse stores only a local coin balance on your device after a successful purchase; we do not receive your full payment card details.

5. Information We Do Not Collect by Default

We do not require creating an online profile, email, or password account server for Review features.
We do not upload your field memos, photos, or voice notes to our servers.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not provide AI chat or community messaging in the current Piruse guide experience.

6. Sharing Features

If you use Share, the system share sheet may send text you choose (such as a place name and description) to apps you select. Those destinations are governed by the third party’s privacy practices, not this Policy.

7. Links to Other Sites

The App may open this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Use, or other web pages in an external browser. Content on those sites may be hosted separately; this Policy applies to how the Piruse App handles information on your device.

8. Children

Piruse is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the App, delete the App data or contact us so we can help you remove local records.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

Local data remains until you clear it. Within Account you can log out (session ends; some saved content may remain) or use Delete Account to wipe session, saved spots, visit status, field memos, attached photos and voice files, checklist, quiz stats, coin balance, personalization preference, and onboarding state on that device. Uninstalling the App typically removes remaining local storage subject to your device OS behavior.

10. Analytics, Ads & Tracking

Piruse focuses on local catalog browsing. Cross-app tracking for personalized tips is requested only when you enable Personalized Trail Tips and approve Apple’s tracking prompt. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs for personalized ads in the current guide experience. If that changes in a future version, we will update this Policy and, where required, seek appropriate consent.

11. Security

We rely on your device’s platform protections for local storage. No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure; please keep your device locked and updated.

12. International Users

Piruse content focuses on European destinations, but the App may be used wherever it is available. Local storage remains on the device where you install Piruse.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The “Effective date” will be revised when changes take effect. Continued use of the App after an update means you acknowledge the revised Policy.
